Both PSA and Membrane nitrogen generators work by passing dry, compressed air through a technical bundle of hollow, porous membrane fibers. This separation process separates oxygen and water vapor from the nitrogen gas stream, leaving behind high purity nitrogen that is discharged at the membrane outlet port. The gas purity of the nitrogen produced can be controlled by throttling the nitrogen flow rate, which adjusts the amount of oxygen remaining in the nitrogen gas stream, resulting in changes in nitrogen gas purity.
